Google materializes a little APK its Web initiative

Google wants to make them much more interactive websites

with its mobile OS. The WebAPK could soon become a reality.

The new version of Chromium for Android adds a new button in the settings that would download web pages, and by extension Progressive Web Apps. The Progressive Web Apps are web sites that use a much more sophisticated interface. They add animation, are displayed full screen, and used to send notifications. Google used its weather map to demonstrate. She spends a rather austere interface to a much closer Android interface that looks just like a native application, whether in terms of animation or fluidity.

The WebAPKs use the same principle and grow further. Schematically, they are Progressive Web Apps whose code is directly installed in the phone system rather than being confined to the browser environment. This enables further integration of the Web App. It can have access to parts of the phone to which the naviagteur does not have access provided to validate the required permissions, and has no browser needed to be started or run. Indeed, the Web App icon will directly be installed on the home screen as a standard application in all. For now there is still no WebAPKs, but there are already Progressive Web Apps can be used in off-line mode. The primary purpose of WebAPKs is to offer web services in a much nicer interface to use. Advertising could find new life with a better thought and flexible integration. The loading speed of for example web service could be more important. The site should not download the entire page every launch but only the service it offers (convert currencies for example).

A more pleasant web
You can not move too much about what will make the WebAPKs. But because they are thought to work instantly on a limited environment such as Chrome, we can imagine that they are relatively minor and do not require huge resources to use. In addition, the updates become more scarce, according to the proportion of the application that works online or not.

The Progressive Web Apps and more APKs the Web are realizing the wish of Google to create a more pleasant web easier to use.
